About Us

Exterior of Academy building

The Academy of Louisville is a tutoring center and day program that works to foster an environment where a student’s individuality is celebrated and a lifelong love of learning
is nurtured.

At The Academy of Louisville, we know that every child has different educational needs.
Our philosophy is to combine progressive approaches to teaching, along with proven
traditional methods, in order to provide each child with a unique learning experience.

The Academy of Louisville was founded in 2005 by Marcus Osborne and the late Jenny
Osborne.

Our Tutors

We hire educators from all walks of life with not only teaching backgrounds but unique
perspectives and skillsets to ensure we get the most innovative and supportive tutor for
your child’s specific needs.

Jenny Osborne

Co-founder

Jenny earned her teaching certification in New York State as an English Teacher. She also earned a B.A. from New York University in Creative Writing and a Masters in Education from Brooklyn College.

Jenny’s educational work experience also included the writing and implementing of the Learn & Serve America Grant and the New York State Council on the Arts: Empire State Grant for Metropolitan Corporate Academy in Brooklyn. At MCA, on top of being a full time English and Social Studies teacher, her duties included being the Project Arts Liaison, the director of the MCA Litmag and Poetry Slam, and a member of the leadership team.

Awards she has received include the Founders Day Award for Highest Scholastic Preferment and the David A. Bickimer Arts in Education Memorial Award for Promoting Student Poetry.

Jenny Osborne grew up in Louisville, Kentucky in Crescent Hill, and came back after fourteen years in New York City so she and Marcus could raise their children in a more family-friendly environment.

Jenny tragically passed away in October 2019.

Marcus Osborne

Director/Co-founder

Marcus, born and raised in London, England, taught ECE (Exceptional Child Education) for the Jefferson County Public School system for three years, and is now full time owner, lead instructor, and trainer at The Academy of Louisville which he co-founded with his wife and Louisville native, Jenny, in 2005. His Master’s degree in Education is from Spalding University in Louisville and his undergraduate degree is from the University of East Anglia in the U.K. There, he majored in European history and film studies with a minor in Italian language.

Marcus switched careers when the Osbornes moved to Louisville from New York City in 2003. In New York, Marcus was a freelance production coordinator on films, commercials, and television shows. His most rewarding work experiences in this field were the educational series he did for PBS and Hallmark Entertainment so his change of profession to teaching has proved to be a natural fit. Marcus also spent time teaching TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) in Grenada, Spain.

Katie Morgan

Manager and High School Director

Katie’s background is in both psychology and education — both her parents are retired teachers so Katie has been around this field all her life — her psychology background helps tremendously with our program for learning differences and the social work aspect inherent in teaching. She is family to us and we are thrilled our students get to have someone with the kind of care and intelligence only Katie gives each day without waiver.
